How I Can Help
- Every client and every garden is different. I can offer as much or as little advice as you need: a complete redesign, a new border, a renovation scheme, or an
hour’s advisory visit. My past and present clients range from complete newcomers to gardening to experienced and knowledgeable gardeners who just need a bit of help with new ideas.
- A garden is never really a blank canvas, and designing a successful garden is often largely an exercise in problem-solving. Working with all the ‘givens’ of a particular plot,
such as climate, aspect, soil and topography, is much more likely to result in a garden that is satisfying and easy to live with in the longer term, without making unnecessary maintenance
demands on your time and resources.
- I will bring to your garden wide experience of planning and planting, backed up by training at Sparsholt College, where I was awarded the Garden Design Trophy in 2000.
- Alongside designing gardens, I am an established gardening writer. I have written two well-reviewed books on garden plants and their names, have contributed to other books on plants, wildlife gardening and garden design,
and have written for national gardening magazines.
